Bad weather causes opening Giro Donne time-trial to be cancelled midway

The opening stage of the Giro d'Italia Donne was one that did not start off promisingly, as the bad weather temporarily got the organization to pause the time-trial. Ultimately, the stage was called off.

The strong rain didn't allow for safe conditions on the road, specially in an explosive flat time-trial on urban roads where there would be plenty corners and tricky sections. It was no longer possible to resume the time-trial after it's interruption, and stage 1 has been called off officially. Stage two will begin without a leader despite some riders having completed their effort.
