The opening stage of the
Giro d'Italia Donne was one that did not start off promisingly, as the bad weather temporarily got the organization to pause the time-trial. Ultimately, the stage was called off.
The strong rain didn't allow for safe conditions on the road, specially in an explosive flat time-trial on urban roads where there would be plenty corners and tricky sections. It was no longer possible to resume the time-trial after it's interruption, and stage 1 has been called off officially. Stage two will begin without a leader despite some riders having completed their effort.
