It's been more than three weeks since Arnaud De Lie's terrific crash in opening stage of French stage race 4 Jours du Dunkerque. Despite scary injuries, De Lie is already back to his training routine as the 21-year old eyes racing comeback at National Championships at the end of June.
"It was not a common accident, I got out of it with a pneumothorax, a fracture to the left clavicle, to a rib as well as to the sternum. I can say that I am better, I have moreover resumed training," he explains first of all in remarks relayed by RTBF.
"It's a route that could suit me," he says about European Championships, his big goal for the second half of this season. The event will take place at the end of September in the Dutch province of Drenthe on the famous VAM berg circuit.
"I think I can now say that I don't have the sprinting instinct that for example Olav Kooij has. This period has allowed me to take a step back and approach my sprinting differently. I think I have to sprint more like Van Aert does, that is to say being in the first positions 2–3 kilometers from the finish," he concludes.
