Andrey Amador joins Carapaz at EF Education - EasyPost - "I want to come back to my real level"

Andrey Amador has been a key domestique for Richard Carapaz over the last few years and the Costa Rican will be joining his leader at EF Education - EasyPost in the coming season.

“I define myself as a rider who can give support in the best and worst moments,” Amador said in a press release. ”If I have something, then I give it all and I give my best for the team. I sacrifice myself. Not only that, but I will aim for everything that I can reach". At 35 years of age, Amador has consolidated himself as one of the most experienced domestiques in the peloton, and will move to fill that role in - assisted by their common agent Giuseppe Acquadro.

Amador has for large years been part of Movistar Team, where Carapaz grew into a pro rider and a Grand Tour contender. He assisted the Ecuadorian in his maiden Grand Tour win at the 2019 Giro d'Italia, and both have committed to a move into INEOS Grenadiers, and will be leaving at the same time aswell. Throughout these three years Amador settled into a domestique role, more for the flat and hilly stages, but often times still able to perform at the mountains.

“I want to come back to my real level, and I’m very confident I will do that," Amador said however, aiming higher than a support role in the American team. "I am ready to help the team, to give my best for my teammate or our leader and give the team what they need in the best possible way. I want to be a rider who they can rely on," he concluded.
