The Druivenkoers - Overijse classic will be seeing several classics specialists on the startline, and
Mathieu van der Poel has been confirmed to be one of them. The Dutchman will be leading
Alpecin-Deceuninck at the start.
The team also includes the likes of Dries de Bondt and Jasper Philipsen as outsiders for the race, which is set to take place in the hills around Overijse where the World championships saw it's main split last year - and where the Brabantse Pijl is frequently raced - hence being familiar terrain for van der Poel.
After abandoning the Tour de France with high fatigue symptoms, it was unknown for how long the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider would be out of competition. Fears were starting to be present as the World championships are one month away and he had no scheduled return to competition, but the Belgian classic will be the grounds for that.
After a less good Tour de France and some time off the bike, van der Poel will be looking to regain his best form over the coming weeks, however will nevertheless be a big favourite to take the win.
