Alberto Contador on emerging talents in the peloton: "What we are experiencing is cycling"

Alberto Contador is enjoying cycling from the trenches as a Eurosport commentator and owner of the EOLO-KOMETA team. The Pinto native, winner of the Giro, Tour and Vuelta as a pro, was known for always riding on the attack, which is why he's enjoying the generation he's commentating now so much.

"When we have riders who do what riders like Evenepoel or Roglic are doing or what we saw in the E3 Saxo, if we already start thinking that this is bad?" Contador argued in a recent interview. "What we want is a spectacle. It's clear that you can like one rider or another, but what we are experiencing is cycling. Pure cycling, show cycling".

Contador believes it's a great time to attract new cycling fans because the races are exciting and, in many of them, there are non-stop attacks. That's why he thinks it's a great time:

"To people who have no idea what a bike race is, you put on the TV, explain it to them and they say "madre mia". The attacks, that the first and the second go, are things that have never been seen before. I think it's something to celebrate day in and day out".
