Alberto Bettiol will be one of the riders that will start their season already next week in Tour Down Under. The Italian is going to repeat his 2019 season inaugural race, a season that lead him to his surprising win at Tour des Flandres.

"I hope to do as I did four years ago. I want to do a lot of hard work and then prepare well for Tirreno-Adriatico 2023 and the Spring Classics", said the EF Education-EasyPost rider to the Italian news journal La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bettiol, will stay in Australia until the end of January, as he is also going to participate in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race 2023, a one-day race that is scheduled for 29 January. Despite both being races suited very well to his characteristics, the 29 years old rider looks to them more than races to gain rhythm in preparation to his main goals

"At the Tour Down Under, the team is counting on Mikkel Honoré and Sean Quinn. As for me, after the Australian races, I will go on a training camp at Teide for a couple of weeks. Then, the plan is to race the Strade Bianche 2023 (4 March - ed.). From there, then on to the Tirreno-Adriatico and then to the North. Just like in that 'magic' 2019...", ended Bettiol.
