This Saturday's stage 7 at Paris-Nice 2024 has the potential to be a decisive day in the general classification and the fight for the Maillot Jaune. Despite starting the day in 11th at 1:44, Primoz Roglic still maintained an upbeat outlook on the proceedings.
"After the rain comes the sun," says a smiling Roglic in his pre-stage 7 interview ahead of a shortened Saturday stage that now sees the riders tackle 104km with the highlight being a summit finish atop La Madone d'Utelle.
On a dramatic stage 6, Brandon McNulty, Matteo Jorgenson and Mattias Skjelmose were the big winners with Roglic among those to lose some considerable time. "We raced huh! I gave everything but it didn't work out and we didn't get maybe the result that we wanted," the BORA - hansgrohe leader admits. "It's definitely something to work on and do more."
"You know how it is with cycling. If you have the best legs you can always get free in front but so far I really didn't have them," he continues. "I'll keep trying and day by day we'll give our best with the whole team."
It was also announced yesterday that Roglic will be taking on both Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Fleche Wallone in a change to his original race calendar for 2024. "I'm just trying to follow the process and put some racing kilometres in the legs," he explains.
