5-Star Arenberg cobbled sector described as "too dangerous" for Paris-Roubaix Femmes

The third instalment of the Paris-Roubaix Femmes takes place this Saturday. Absent from the women's version of the event however will be the five star Arenberg cobbled sector.

"The problem is that the women start in Denain. The distance between the start and a potential passage through the forest is too small. If you come here with a full peloton, it is too dangerous," said Franck Perque of organizer ASO.

Though the section will be absent from this year's edition of the race, the possibility of the Arenberg forest making an appearance for future versions of the race has not been ruled out.

"I do not rule out that we will pass through the Arenberg Forest in the future. It is only the 3rd edition for the women, while we are already at 120 editions for the men. Women's cycling is undergoing an evolution, but we must not rush and skip steps," explains course director Thierry Gouvenou to Sporza.
