Just days after taking a stunning, solo win at the Tour of Flanders, Lotte Kopecky is already planning her next history-making result, winning Paris-Roubaix and becoming the first woman to complete a Flanders-Roubaix double in the same year.
“For me, there’s less pressure. Of course, you want to win the race again and we will not be happy if we don’t win the race again," Team SD Worx's Kopecky tells Velo News. "But, if don’t win the race, I think we already can be quite happy with how the season went. It cannot be like this the whole year or every weekend."
Runner-up last year behind Elisa Longo Borghini, Kopecky and SD Worx are yet to taste success at Paris-Roubaix Femmes but she comes into the race this year in arguably the form of her life. Alongside her Tour of Flanders victory, Kopecky has taken the win at both Nokere Koerse and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad already this year, plus added a second-placed finish at Strade Bianche to her palmares.
“I’m getting in my strongest years. I have a super strong team. I have a lot of freedom in the team, which also relaxes me a lot. So yeah, I think my move last year to SD Worx has definitely been one of the most important steps in my career,” Kopecky concluded.
