For many years, Davide Rebellin has gained an incredible amount of attention due to the length of his professional career. The Italian veteran has concluded 30 years as a professional cyclist in 2022, and has once for all ended a long journey in the peloton.
Rebellin turned professional back in 1992, year that Gianni Bugno took his last World Title, and the year before Lance Armstrong won his. The Italian has mostly expressed himself in the hilly classics, with the 2000's seeing his prime, in which he's won all 3 Ardennes classics (Amstel Gold Race, Flèche Wallone and Liège-Bastogne-Liège) in 2004 as his prime career achievement, and one for the books.
The Italian has also won Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, the Clasica San Sebastian and has ranked up a total of 61 wins throughout his pro career. He kept the ball rolling after his peak however, and it gained new meaning afterwards.
Since 2009 Rebellin has raced away from World Tour ranks, and since 2017 he's exclusively raced for Continental squads. The spotlight he brings, alongside some - impressive for his age - results, he was a positive investment for many outfits with whom he collaborated. Work Service Vitalcare Vega has been the team he represented for these past two seasons, and the recent Veneto Classic - where he finished 30th - was the final pro event of his career.
