Yves Lampaert the leading figure for Gullegem cross "where everyone can experience a sporting day"

The cross of Gullegem has once again attracted a well-known face to put their race in the spotlight. After Freddy De Vadder, Stephanie Planckaert and sound engineer Pascal Braeckman, cyclist Yves Lampaert was chosen to grace the poster.

"Yves Lampaert may not be a cyclo-cross rider, but he fits our cross perfectly. As a successful local rider, he remains himself as a simple farmer's son," the organization said. "That is also what we want to radiate as cross. An accessible and versatile cyclo-cross where everyone can experience a sporting day."

Lampaert graces the poster of the cyclocross and that of the afterparty. Does he also join in? "I will enter the field, although it will not be on January 6," Lampaert winks.

The Gullegem cyclocross is not part of a classification. The organization does have the big 3 on the honors list. Mathieu van der Poel won the cyclocross 3 times (2019-2021), Tom Pidcock succeeded him in 2022, while last edition was won by Wout van Aert.
