Unless he gets a reduced sentence, Toon Aerts will be sidelined until February 16, 2024. The crosser tested positive with low levels of Letrozole Metabolite last year and now combines his training with a job as teacher.
"Do I still feel like a professional? Actually, I do," he admits in Sportweekend. "I still follow my schedules. Only now sometimes there is a party that I would have canceled before because I needed rest. That rest is less now, also because the school is added."
As a physical education teacher, Aerts is serving his suspension. "In the first days everyone knew me at school mainly because of what had appeared in the newspapers, but there was really little talk about it."
To top it off, Shari Bossuyt is now in the same boat with a similar story. "It seems clear to me that there is a mistake somewhere in the system. If it has to be that way, then so be it. But it's a pity that it had to happen to me."
