UCI
World Cup standings leader,
Eli Iserbyt was forced to settle for fifth on Sunday afternoon in the snow of Val di Sole as
Joris Nieuwenhuis powered to victory.
Nevertheless, "I am satisfied," the Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal star assesses in his post-race interview. "It was important not to fall, at least not to fall hard. I was still able to get some points and I had a reasonable feeling. I would rather get on the podium, but a top five is also good."
Last year, Iserbyt did indeed crash out in the Italian snow and with the 26-year-old Belgian leading the World Cup standings, avoiding a crash can be put down as a positive result.
"I was strong on the finish, but the snow is not my terrain," he concludes. "Still, I can look back with satisfaction on a good race with these snow conditions. I'm already looking forward to next weekend, the race in Namur."
