Shirin van Anrooij finished third in UCI Hulst
World Cup Hulst. The Dutchwoman secured the podium position despite a battered arm.
Van Anrooij did not have an amazing start, she started the race with an injured hand which made it hard to control the bike handle."I fell hard on my arm on Saturday. I love this course, but I didn't know if I wanted to start. I also couldn't hold my handlebars properly during the cross, but I'm still happy. After all, I do enjoy riding here. It was very tough,” said Anrooij.
She was dropped by Puck Pieterse and Fem van Empel but she held her own till the last lap. She praises Pieterse for her achievement. "It went better than expected. I was hoping before the start to finish in the top-10. So I didn't expect this.I did expect big differences, but still not so big. The mud made it a tough and technical course. It was a real Puck show again today. She flew over this course," Van Anrooij concluded.
