The Koppenbergcross in Oudenaarde turned into a Baloise Trek Lions party on Wednesday. Thibau Nys won on behalf of the formation, Lars van der Haar came second and team manager Sven Nys was over the moon. Only Pim Ronhaar was a bit bittersweet after the race as he tells In de Leiderstrui.
The Dutchman started the race very well. After one lap he was in second position, which, given his performance in recent years, was not even a surprise to those present. Last year Ronhaar finished fifth on the Koppenberg, while the year before he won the U23 race.
In Wednesday's X2O Trophy round it collapsed after one lap, partly due to bad luck. "I got caught on my shoe, after which I fell at the bottom of the course near the VIP tent," Ronhaar sums up. However, he certainly does not want to blame everything on those incidents.
"Pfff, I have no idea what's wrong," Ronhaar honestly shrouds in mystery. "I'm not making any progress and I have no idea why. I really do not know." When told that his start was strong, he reacts disappointed. "That's right, but normally I should be able to keep this up for an hour. I also showed that in Waterloo, but I don't know what's wrong in recent weeks."
