Mathieu van der Poel solos to victory in CX World Cup Antwerpen

Mathieu van der Poel has won the UCI World Cup Antwerpen. Even with injuries, he came out on top and claimed his second victory of the season.

Wout van Aert started with a nice lead. Terrible start for Tom Pidcock as he slipped to the 29th position. Mathieu van der Poel didn't let his injuries stop him from chasing van Aert. By the second lap, van der Poel enjoyed a 9-second lead over van Aert.

Over the course of the next lap, he increased his gap to over 30 seconds. Despite their best efforts, Wout Van Aert, Michael Vanthourenhaut, and Lars Van der Haar were unable to close the gap. In the fifth lap, Van Aert dropped the duo. Pidcock moved up from 29th to the 15th position.

In the second last lap, Wout van Aert crashed, but he recovered quickly and continued riding. Mathieu van der Poel crossed the finish line first and took the victory. Wout van Aert started his cyclocross season with a silver. Michael Vanthourenhout finished third.
