Laurens Sweeck's performance in the Zonhoven World Cup competition resulted in a third-place finish, with Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel taking the top two spots, respectively.
The Belgian has no complaints with the final result."I think this was the highest achievable today," Sweeck said in the post-race interview.
He acknowledges that van Aert and van der Poel presented formidable obstacles that he was ultimately unable to overcome."The two big guys were a bit better." However, he did beat the European champion Michael Vanthourenhout for the third spot.
"I was pushed a bit on the defensive for the classification because Michael is the only dangerous customer in front of me. That's why I stayed in his wheel to beat him afterwards. So the third place was very good for me," concluded Sweeck.
