The CX Otegem saw Laurens Sweeck come out on top, finishing alone and well ahead of his competitors. This is his fifth win of the season.

"I was in a good lead from the start, as was my teammate Joran Wyseure,” Sweeck said in the post-race interview. He continues, “He finally managed to break open the race, had a very good day himself and took a well-deserved second place here. Halfway through the race, I wanted to take the race to my hand."

He took the lead in the third lap and held it to the end, never giving up his advantage. "I did have some material trouble at one point, but fortunately, I didn't lose super much time. They still came a bit shorter though, and so I had to make an effort to get it in. It was still an effort, though, especially after Sunday's cross. I just tackled it as a new race. I wanted to live up to it for the spectators," said Sweeck.

Sweeck currently holds the top spot in the World Cup standings and aims to maintain his position until the end of the final two rounds. "I now hope to win the World Cup and then ride a good World Championship. There are six more great weekends to come. I hope to have a few more nice crosses to my name," concluded Sweeck.
