Crelan-Fristads rider Marion Norbert-Riberolle won the Cyclocross Otegem. She surprised everyone in the final lap as she beat Aniek van Alphen to claim her first win of the season.
Despite having a comfortable advantage in the final lap, Van Alphen was unable to match Norbert-Riberolle's speed in the closing moments, resulting in her defeat. The victory serves as a way for her to put her disappointment in the Belgian national championships behind her.
"After my fall, I tried to get back to Van Alphen in anger. Today the strongest won, Saturday at the BK, that was not the case," she told WTV. She is very happy with the win. "I am very happy with this win, even if it is not in the Belgian champion's jersey," concluded Norbert-Riberolle.
