Aniek van Alphen added the
Superprestige Boom to the list of her achievements. She managed to beat
Denise Betsema in a sprint and secured her second victory of the season.
"The first time I won a televised motocross was in Lokeren. That was more than two years ago. I myself thought it was about time and am super happy that I was able to win," Van Alphen said in the post-race interview. She continues, "It went super well today. I really got morale because I caught up with so many riders. When I caught up with Denise, I think I gave a bit too much though, so she came back pretty quickly."
Van Alphen managed to take the lead against Betsema, but the latter was not going down easily. "I knew I had the best chance if I got through that sandpit first. I'm not a sprinter at all, but luckily Denise wasn't either. I was just able to hold on until the finish."
She held her own until the end and won her second race of the season. "Normally, I'm not into pushing and pulling, then I think it's fine, and I brake too fast. My coach is always like this: it could be a bit brighter, there could be a bit more pushing and pulling involved. I just knew I had to make sure I was in front because otherwise, I'll be second, and I'd regret it," concluded van Alphen.
