"Whenever you come home, a dog is happy" - Demi Vollering credits pet Flo with keeping her grounded

Demi Vollering had herself an incredible 2023 on the bike with numerous big victories. Throughout the highs and lows though, the Team SD Worx leader can always rely on her loyal dog Flo to keep her feet on the ground.

"Whenever you come home, a dog is happy. That also makes me realize that it doesn't matter what you win, because for a dog you always remain the same person," says the 26-year-old Dutchwoman in conversation with In de Leiderstrui. "So you don't become more special because of what you have won, but that is something I realize in that way."

One of the highlights of Vollering's 2023 was undoubtedly the overall victory at the 2023 Tour de France Femmes. After a big year though, she has been recently been enjoying a much deserved break.

"I had a very nice holiday in Italy, which was very nice," she recaps of her time spent enjoying herself. "There was a lot of sun, so I could lie on the beach and enjoy the day. That was also necessary, just to relax."
