Neilson Powless began the day as a dark horse for the overall victory at the Amstel Gold Race however the EF Education-EasyPost rider saw his chances quashed by an unfortunate crash.
On slippery, wet roads a peloton already in panic-mode were brought into further chaos at Amstel Gold Race with a number of riders including Neilson Powless and recent Brabantse Pijl winner Dorian Godon going down hard.
