VIDEO: Abu Dhabi lit up in celebration of UAE Team Emirates & Tadej Pogacar's 2024 Giro d'Italia dominance

The first Maglia Rosa of Tadej Pogacar's career was claimed last weekend as, after three weeks of dominance, the UAE Team Emirates leader completed his comprehensive victory at the 2024 Giro d'Italia.
So comfortable was Pogacar's victory that in the end, the Slovenian had a near-ten-minute winning margin over his nearest challenger, Daniel Martinez of BORA - hansgrohe. After there were scenes of pink celebration in Pogacar's hometown back in Slovenian over the weekend, the hometown of the UAE Team Emirates team in Abu Dhabi has now similarly joined the celebrations.
"Incredible to see the ADNOCGroup Tower celebrating our Giro D’Italia victory," write the official UAE Team Emirates social media pages, adorning a video of the said tower lit up with images of Pogacar and the rest of his teammates from the opening Grand Tour of the season. "We’re incredibly thankful to all of our partners for your continued support, and so proud to represent the UAE."

- I watched the last 40k. Wout's body lanquage spoke volumes. In the last 10k. Remco was nose breathing. Wouts jaw was dropping with his mouth wide open he was just hanging on. He made a good fist of disguising it and taking turns, you could see that he was tiring. This will do him good, he will come good I'm sure. - If you pick the right years 1948 43,5km/h 1964 45,1km/h If you look at every year you see the progression used to be in steps and became more rare and gradual, there still seem to be steps sometimes but pretty small. The two biggest influences are 1. how the race evolves on the day and 2. wind direction. It seems high speed is now more consistent, probably because the way of racing has focused towards that, gone are the days of the leisurely 30km/h outing in preparation for a few hundred meters of sprinting towards the end.Mistermaumau18-04-2025
