The French Stage race
Tour de la Provence, who has been on the calendar since 2016, is having some financial problems and organizational issues. Mainly related to ex rider and wife of Julian Alaphilippe, Marion Rousse, who was as deputy director of the French stage race. She has since resigned due to a financial dispute and is going to take legal action against the organization.
Despite these problems and the expectation that this race would disappear from the cycling calendar, at the end of last year December, the organization informed AFP news agency that the Tour de La Provence would take place in 2023. Past forward to January 2023, this information seems to no avail since, the Federal Council of Appeal of the Cycling Federation stated that the organizer have not fully met the conditions for organizing a cycling race in 2023. Therefore, the FFC has not put the stage race on the cycling calendar for 2023.
This means that the Tour de La Provence was in fact removed from the 2023 calendar. This was done by the French cycling federation FFC and the association of French cycling races LNC. The organizers of the stage race, which was to be held from 9-12 February, did not have their act together. So this race who have been won twice by Nairo Quintana and by the likes of Rohan Dennis and French iconic rider Thomas Voeckler, and was an important early season preparation race ceases to exist, at least for 2023 season.
