Team Visma | Lease a Bike announce signing of U23 world champion Niklas Behrens

The newly crowned men's under 23 world champion, had been expected for a long while to be joining Lidl-Trek when he turned professional. Now though, it has been announced that the German has joined Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

“I’m super happy to join Team Visma | Lease a Bike,” says Behrens in conversation with his new employers official website once the signing was announced. “This is a team I’ve always looked up to due to the high level of professionalism. I’m really looking forward to being part of such a great team.”

Behrens' signing is another sign in the continued effort being made by Team Visma | Lease a Bike to bolster their ranks for future seasons. “Niklas is a rider with a lot of potential," says sports director Grischa Niermann delightedly. "He caught our attention over the past two years in several races, including the recent Tour de l’Avenir. He hasn’t been racing for long and has a lot of progression margin. We are confident that we can guide him to the next step in his still early career.”

“I hope to discover my true specialty in the coming years with the help of the team," adds the under 23 Rainbow Jersey. "I believe I can perform well in classics, but I also want to further develop my time-trialing skills. Additionally, I’m not slow in a sprint, which is important for winning races.”
