Team DSM - Firmenich are in the market for a new sprinter which will most likely be Fabio Jakobsen, however within the team's current lineup they also make moves to ensure their existence in the coming years. The Dutch team has signed a long contract with it's new young talent Max Poole.
“For me I see this as the next stage in my career and it was important to be in the right place where I can do it in the best way possible and bring me to the highest level possible," Poole said in a press release. The 20-year old Briton has broken his current contract and has re-signed all the way into 2027. "I think the length of the contract allows me to grow over time and do everything in the right way. I think alongside that, it’s important to be in the right environment and I have a lot of trust in the people I work closely with that I can reach the level I want to be at in a few years’ time."
"That is ultimately the most important thing for me, just as really getting up for and buying into what the team have put forward in terms of goals and development is important for me too. The last one and a half years have been a whirlwind but going to work with a smile on my face side-by-side next to this team makes it easy and I’m excited to be riding round with two blue stripes on my back for a while longer.”
Poole signed with the team this year after having had a spell in the development squad in 2022, where he raced alongside the elites a few times. However his growth has been exponential, having won the youth classification at the Tour of the Alps, followed by a fourth place at the Tour de Romandie, his first ever World Tour event.
Ever since he has continued on a good run of form, having finished fourth in the Tour de Hongrie and led the Dutch team at the Criterium du Dauphiné where he tested himself alongside Tour de France contenders and rode to a 13th place. As is traditional with DSM there is a big focus on it's young talents, and they hope to keep Poole as part of a new emerging generation that is taking over cycling.
