The rumours had been circulating over the past few weeks and now they are given with certainty.
Fabio Jakobsen, currently leading
Soudal - Quick-Step at the Tour de France, will be joining
Team DSM on a three-year deal from this winter onwards.
GCN's Daniel Benson who is on the ground at the Tour de France often reports on negotiations which are taking place in the background of the race, reports a major transfer. After several years with the Belgian team, where Jakobsen became a headliner in the team specially after his recovery from a life-threatening crash at the 2020 Tour de Pologne, he will be departing at the end of the 2023 season.
The destination will be Team DSM. Sam Welsford, the team's current head sprinter, will most likely join BORA - hansgrohe at the end of the year, and the spot will be filled by the Netherlands' finest sprinter. The team has sporting and exposure interests in Jakobsen, who is said to have agreed on a three-year deal with the team.
Jakobsen is the reigning European champion and has over the past few years become one of the best sprinters in the peloton. He has in his palmarès wins at the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana, Scheldeprijs and holds over three dozen wins throughout his roller-coaster pro career.
