Lotte Kopecky has continued to add to his glistening palmares by adding a second Nokere Koerse victory this Wednesday afternoon in Belgium.
"It was a fairly identical victory to last year," the Team SD Worx - Protime star reflects in her post-race interview having become the first Rainbow Jersey to ever win Nokere Koerse women, finishing ahead of teammate, Lorena Wiebes. "I think it's a fun race and we like to make use of our dominance. It's great to be able to take control of this race again with SD Worx and come first and second again. It could not be better."
Kopecky had actually tried to attack solo much earlier before her race-winning attack finally stuck. "We wanted to make the race hard and I had the hope that a few would join us," she explains. "That was not the case, so they told me from the car that I had to make my own choice about what I would do. I tried to keep the pace high, but it was a bit too early. He who does not dare, does not win."
"It was agreed in advance to place a gear there and in the end we came up with four. On the cobblestone section where I went again, the wind was at an angle and that was ideal for a man-to-man. I could make a difference there," she concludes.
