A new race has emerged on the calendar and will see high-level competition in Portugal. Just before the Volta ao Algarve, the new Figueira Champions Classic is set to take the riders into central Portugal for a classic that will suit all kinds of riders, on the 12th of February.
Based around the coastal city of Figueira da Foz, the race will feature a final circuit that will feature an ascent to the forest of the Serra da Boa Viagem that will be climbed three times. The main differences will be made there, it's a race that suits the classics riders and puncheurs, whilst allowing some sprinters to dream aswell.
The final ascents will have 2.1 kilometers at 8.5% (20.5Km to go) and 600 meters at 9.2% (6.5Km to go) which will make for an explosive finale. Many scenarios can happen in such terrain but plenty attacks are assured.
