The 2025 Tour de France will begin in Lille, in the northwestern corner of France. This is official, the presentation of the first three stages took place this morning in the city that will host one of the upcoming Grand Depart.
In the Nord-Pas de Calais region the riders will find the opening days of the Tour de France. This comes in absolute contrast to the 2024 race which begins in Florence, Italy, and then focuses exclusively in the center but mostly southern half of the country. 2025 will see the northern roads in the headlines at first.
The Grand Depart will take place in Lille, the first day starts and ends in the city that borders Roubaix but will not feature cobbles, instead a bunch sprint finish for the first day. Stage 3 from Valenciennes to Dunkerque should also end in a bunch sprint following a climb to Mont Cassel, but stage 2 from Lauwin-Planque to Boulogne-sur-Mer will have an explosive finale where puncheurs are expected to thrive.
Tour de France 2025 stages:
Stage 1: Lille - Lille
Stage 2: Lauwin-Planque - Boulogne-sur-Mer
Stage 3: Valenciennes - Dunkerque
Stage 4: Amiens - ?
