No end to bad luck for Marta Cavalli who has to postpone her return to competition after getting hit by a car during training

The bad luck doesn't seem to come to an end for Marta Cavalli. The 26-year-old was training this morning with a friend on the roads near her home when she was hit by a car on a roundabout.

The car driver entered the roundabout (it remains to be seen whether he respected the right of way) and ended up running over the Italian cyclist, while her friend who was pedaling with her came out unharmed. Having fallen heavily to the ground, without ever losing consciousness, she was however complaining of neck and back pain. The FDJ - SUEZ rider was thus transported to the Cremona hospital where the relevant investigations are underway.

2024 is truly becoming a year to forget for Cavalli, who has so far only completed five race days in six months and with this accident hampering her preparation to return for the second half of the season, it doesn't seem like she will add more in nearest weeks.
