Move to Lidl-Trek not impossible for Primoz Roglic - "It’s clear someone like him can elevate a team"

Primoz Roglic has a contract with Jumbo-Visma until the end of 2025 but there is no certainty that he'll follow it until the end. Asked about interest from Lidl-Trek, both his agent and the team confirmed that there is interest.

“I can imagine many teams would be interested in Primož given the performance he’s still doing,” Roglic's agent Mattia Galli told Escape Collective. “Primož has a contract with Jumbo-Visma until 2025 and he is happy in the team and there are not different wills so far."

The Slovenian is seemingly happy with the Dutch team, who have carried him to victory at the Giro d'Italia this year. Rumours of a possible move to INEOS Grenadiers surged a few months ago, it seems as if the Roglic camp was also made aware of the interest of the American team. “This is all hypothetical as we know Primož has a contract for next year with Jumbo, but of course it’s evident he would be a great fit for our team," Lidl-Trek manager Luca Guarcilena said.

Although a move would inevitably involve some sort of financial incentive as his contract is fit for another two full seasons, the latter team has had a significant boost with the entrance of Lidl as a title sponsor. The likes of Tao Geoghegan Hart and Jonathan Milan have already been signed whilst the team has kept all it's leaders including Mads Pedersen who has had an astonishing season.

"A rider with his palmarés and racing craft would really align with the vision we have for the team. We have a lot of young riders with a ton of potential and we also have great momentum going right now, so it’s clear someone like him can elevate a team just like Mads [Pedersen] does," Guarcilena concluded.
