Matteo Trentin finished in the second position in the opening stage of the
Tour du Limousin in France. He was unable to overtake
Julien Simon in the final meters.
His teammate Rui Oliviera positioned him well for the final sprint, but Simon surprised everyone, and Trentin had to satisfy with silver. Trentin is satisfied with his and his teammate’s effort in the tour, “Today we rode well and always together. In the end, Rui did a really good job, but Simon threw everyone off, and he was strong up to the end,” said Trentin.
The rider will try again in the next stage.“The legs are good and we are definitely ready to try again in the next few days,” concluded Trentin. He currently holds the second position in GC, just one second behind overall leader Julien Simon.
