Maxime Bouet (Team Arkéa Samsic) will conclude his career at the end of this season. The 36-year old Frenchman's final race will normally be Il Lombardia in October.
"My career has lasted a very long time, but on the other hand it went very fast," says Bouet in a statement. "I persevered, gritting my teeth at times, and enjoyed it. But I enjoyed all the moments, both the joyful ones and the sorrows that come with it. This allows you to grow and progress as a cyclist. Joy and sorrow are inseparable."
"I am also proud to end my career alongside the manager I started with, Emmanuel Hubert. I owe my professional career to him. It was unthinkable for me to say goodbye in another team," said Bouet.
Bouet spent 16 years as pro, starting in Agritubel (now Arkéa), to then ride for AG2R, Etixx - Quick-Step, or Fortuneo - Oscaro, before coming back home to Arkéa Samsic for 2019 season. Bouet might not have the most impressive palmares, but he's been a loyal teammate for many years and earned a lot of respect among the peloton over the years.
