José De Cauwer - "We are not going to start doubting Wout van Aert now, are we?"

Following a difficult loss at Paris-Roubaix, Wout van Aert received a performance evaluation from José De Cauwer, who also proposed some corrective measures for the Belgian rider.

He advises the Belgian to "Rest, draw a line under it.” He emphasises that one loss does not define you whole season. “Did you have a bad spring? No. It was even a good spring. Were you ready? Yes. Did we make mistakes? No, it is also possible that some riders are better on certain days. But We are not going to start doubting Wout van Aert now, are we?"

One could argue that this edition was among the most captivating ones ever seen. “Absolutely, cycling has reinvented itself. The ingredients are the same, but the protagonists turn it into a different product."

The puncture and other mechanical failure is the main reason for the lack of performance from the Dutch team. "From one puncture to another. A very good Christophe Laporte had to step aside, too bad for him,” concluded Cauwer.
