Jonas Vingegaard's start at the World Championships remains a possibility, but national coach believes the course "suits him well"

Jonas Vingegaard is currently fully focused on the Tour de France where, despite number of defeats by Tadej Pogacar, the Dane still dreams of a comeback during the final three stages. But even if things don't work out in France, Vingegaard has better things to look forwards - birth of his second child.

That's also why we won't see the Dane at the Olympic Games in two weeks' time. However the national coach of Denmark still hopes that the Visma | Lease a Bike rider could turn up to the World Championships in Zurich at the end of September.

"I have not spoken to him about it in that context. We have talked about the Olympics, but also about perspectives later in the season, but we have agreed to talk after the Tour," says national coach Anders Lund to Ekstra Bladet.

But is that tough course even to Vingegaard's taste? National coach Lund believes so: "It suits him really well, but the agreement is that we will talk after the Tour, depending on how things turn out. There are the EC and WC in September, which I am really looking forward to. It's one thing at a time. Jonas is just about to ride the last week of the Tour."
