"I've been telling everyone for two months that I'm going to be world champion" - reveals Julie Bego, new women junior World Champion

Julie Bego has brought France the gold in the junior women at the World Championships in Glasgow. The young rider soloed after the victory after a scorching attack on one of the steep hills.

Bego was clearly the strongest rider on the Scottish roads on Saturday. When the French attacked hard with twenty kilometers to go, her competitors did not get to see her again. The joy afterwards was enormous, although Bego had seen it coming. "I've been telling everyone for two months that I'm going to be world champion. That works now too, so I'm very satisfied. I trained very hard for this."

"I have been thinking about the world title for more than 6 months. So I was prepared to do well," continues Bego. "I also had a great team. There were many chances for a Frenchwoman to take the world title. I may not have been the strongest in the world, but I had the strongest team in the world."
