Israel - Premier Tech's Corbin Strong looked incredibly impressive as he took just his second victory of the season at the 2024 Giro del Veneto on Wednesday afternoon in Italy. The 24-year-old Kiwi fought off some stiff competition on the punchy finale to emerge victorious.
"I really enjoyed this race last year and it's probably the perfect finish for me," assessed Strong in his immediate post-race interview, have defeated notable names such as Xandro Meurisse, Roman Gregoire and Marc Hirschi in the Italian rain. "I've been motivated to finish the season strong and it's a really good feeling to get the win today."
"It's a technical finish, one that I got completely wrong last year. But my team did a great job and like I said, I was really hungry to get a good result today," continues the Kiwi. "I got a little bit boxed in, but I just had the confidence to go long and early and that paid off in the end."
After finishing on the podium at Gran Piemonte last week and now taking victory at Giro del Veneto, Strong is heading towards the European season's finale at the Veneto Classic full of understandable confidence and self-belief. "It's a bit of a different race and with the rain, it could be a filthy race. I don't know if I'm looking forward to it as much now, after such a strong race today but it'll be a nice way to finish off the season," he concludes with a laugh.
