This Thursday, the route of the first three stages of the Tour de France 2025, with its Grand Départ from Lille, were revealed. An event that local Adrien Petit could not miss. At 33, the native of Arras was quick to share his first impressions with Cyclism'Actu.
"It’s a great goal, a great pride to have a Grand Départ in your region, it’s something enormous. I still have two years of contract, so I will still be a cyclist in 2025. For me, usually, the Tour de France is not a goal in itself, because it is very difficult, but in 2025 I will do the maximum to be able to put the wheels there," Petit affirms.
"When you are not a climber, the Tour is not easy, but having done it 5 times, I have always finished it. I would like to return in 2025, with a Grand Départ from me, stages on my training routes... it's definitely a big goal and I'll make sure to be there."
"I experienced my worst season in 2023. I have never had any major injuries, but this year I have been on the mat every 2-3 months. Who says injury says reconstruction, so always looking for performance. But I have turned the page, I have drawn a line under this season and I hope to get off to a good start next year,¨" says Petit.
"My goals for 2024? Already, to have fun again, because I haven't had much of it this year, to find my level, to influence the race, to have an important role in the Classics and in the sprints for my leaders... if all this works, it will be a successful season," he concludes.
