Matej Mohoric continues his early 2024 season this Sunday afternoon at
Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne. After a somewhat quiet showing from the Slovenian yesterday at
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, can he compete for the win?
"I didn't have a good day. I made a lot of mistakes positioning wise but legs felt really good so I could still work my way up the field in the final," Mohoric recalls of Saturday, where his compatriot, Jan Tratnik eventually took victory, in a pre-Kuurne interview. "I got into the selection that was fighting for the win but unfortunately we walked away empty handed."
Today is a new day though, so how confident is Mohoric heading into this one? "We have really good conditions so we hope to build out confidence today for the rest of the campaign," he says. "I have nice memories of last year. I didn't win the race but I did well and I got myself in the winning move and did really well on the climbs."
"I hope for a hard day today too and I know a few others do too, so it's unlikely to come down to a sprint and if it is then it'll be a sprint of very tired legs," he concludes. "We'll see what we can do."
