Primoz Roglic perhaps expected a little calmer day to La Molina as the gradients in the final climb were smoother, however that was by far not the case. Remco Evenepoel went on the attack once again, but Roglic narrowly managed to keep the race lead.

“I am happy with where I am now. Yesterday the climb was a bit too short, today a bit too long. Remco was super strong and I just didn't have the legs. In the end I am just very satisfied with second place," the Slovenian said at the end of the day. He was the only rider capable of following Evenepoel when he attacked with four kilometers to go. What followed was a controlled effort by the World Champion, which allowed him to have the explosivity in the final meters, which Roglic could not match.

“I am happy with how things are going so far. I keep smiling," Roglic says at the end of the day however. The gap of six seconds that he had over the Soudal - Quick-Step rider has evaporated, however he continues in the race lead. Half of the stages where differences could be made have been ticked, but today further time has been gained on the remaining competition.

Roglic departs for stage 4 in the race. Lead. Two slightly calmer days follow now, but stage 6 into Lo Port is set to be the toughest summit finish of the race, where there are no guarrantees that the 33-year old will be able to sustain his lead.
