Marc Hirschi is in great shape right before the Tour de Suisse. On Friday, the 23-year-old Swiss proved it by winning the GP Canton Aargau, his second of the season.
"The new course is much harder, It was really very difficult, The final was very hectic because someone from AG2R Citroën was riding in the lead for a long time," he said in a post-race interview. Six kilometres from the finish in the hilly race, Hirschi joined Champoussin, Zimmermann, and Moniquet. Andreas Kron, Lorenzo Rota, and Maximilian Schachmann also returned.
"I had to keep an eye out for Lotto Soudal and Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux playing with the surplus. Fortunately, it worked well. After that, the race went upward, and there was a tiny tailwind, so I went in too early rather than too late. Fortunately, everything worked out." he explained. Hirschi took the win at the line, showing good form at a good time of the year.
“This gives a lot of motivation. There are several stages like today. But first I'm going to enjoy this victory and then I'll look further," he concluded.
