Less than two months away from the Grande Partenza in Budapest,
Giro d'Italia organizers have made a slight chance on stage 14 which takes place from Santena to Torino and is set to be an important day for the overall classification.
The stage will keep it's overall looks as it'll travel through the hills of eastern Torino for a stage that's suited to aggressive racing, with multiple climbs, several of which with very prominent gradients. The stage has been shortened from 153 to 147 kilometers and will now have a little over 3100 meters of climbing. The change has been done as "some parts of route were too narrow".
The stage antecedes three days of high mountains in the Alps. It will still feature two ascents of the Superga ascent, made famous by the Milano-Torino classic, but afterwards there were changes in the route. with the climb to Colle della Maddalena coming afterwards with 3.8 kilometers at 7% - featuring a 1.6 kilometer section at 12.3% - and a very fast descent finale back into the center of Torino, passing by a sharp hilltop on the way.
