L'UCI annonce une suspension de 30 jours (à compter du 25 juillet) pour le Polonais Filip Maciejuk (Bahrain-Victorious). Le coureur est sanctionné pour la chute collective provoquée lors du Tour des Flandres.
Bahrain - Victorious' Filip Maciejuk has finally received his punishment from the UCI after his role in causing a mass crash at the Tour of Flanders earlier this year. The 23-year-old Polish rider will be suspended for thirty days.
"The disciplinary committee has ruled that the rider acted in violation of article 12.4.007 of the UCI regulations because he caused a crash by riding outside the race course," the UCI say in a statement explaining their decision.
During the Tour of Flanders crash, Maciejuk tried to move up in the peloton by riding off-road. Hitting a puddle as he went however, the Pole lost control and swerved back into the peloton, forcing a mass crash that saw the likes of Biniam Girmay and Tim Wellens injured.
“Dangerous behaviour has no place in modern cycling," the UCI reiterates. "That is why we would like to remind again that it is strictly forbidden to ride on sidewalks, lanes and bicycle paths that are not part of the course. Anyone who transgresses and causes risks to others will be punished.”
