On Saturday 6 May, the first Grand Tour of 2023 will start: the Giro d'Italia. Between Fossacesia Marina and Rome, there will be three weeks of competition for the iconic pink jersey. This edition features a brutal final week, with the decision in the general classification possibly not happening until the final Saturday. An individual time trial to the top of Monte Lussari awaits then. Containing 5 kilometres at over 15(!) percent.

For the general classification, all eyes are on the duel between Remco Evenepoel and Primož Roglič. The duo made it a spectacle at the Volta a Catalunya, so expectations are high. Other favourites at the start include Mads Pedersen, Filippo Ganna, João Almeida, Aleksandr Vlasov, Giulio Ciccone and Geraint Thomas.
