In the end, Enric Mas will not be at the start of the Vuelta a Burgos 2023. Announced in recent days among the participants of the short Spanish stage race, the Iberian climber preferred to give up to concentrate exclusively on the preparation for the Vuelta a España, which will start on next August 26 from Barcelona.
The last Grand Tour of the season will thus be the 28-year-old's first race after his withdrawal from the Tour de France, which occurred in the first stage due to a fall that had caused a fractured shoulder blade. Movistar will therefore participate in the Vuelta a Burgos with Oier Lazkano, Einer Rubio, Carlos Verona, Ivan Garcia Cortina, Jorge Arcas, Lluis Mas and Will Barta.
"Preparation for the Vuelta a España continues at a good pace, with the hope of arriving in the best conditions at the start in Barcelona," Mas states in his recent socials post. "To do this, it was decided to favor the training versus competition. I would have liked to have been at the Vuelta a Burgos and I wish everyone a good race."
