Christmas leg fracture means Giacomo Nizzolo set for lengthy injury lay-off

Giacomo Nizzolo will have to wait to make his Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team debut after the 34-year-old Italian suffered a leg fracture over the festive period.

“On December 23rd, Giacomo Nizzolo had an accident with a fractured tibial plateau on his right leg," explains Lorenz Emmert, Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team Chief Medical Doctor to the team's official website. "He underwent surgery and was released from the hospital. The healing and rehabilitation process has already begun. We are very optimistic that we will get him back to his usual performance level within the next months as quickly as the injury allows.”

Nizzolo signed a two-year contract with Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team following his departure from Israel - Premier Tech although he will sadly no longer be able to join up with the team at their pre-2024 season start training camp in Calpe, Spain this January.

Having undergone successful surgery on the 27th, Nizzolo was discharged from hospital on the 31st of December and for the Italian, the long road to recovery is now underway.
