The Giro d'Italia is soon to have it's full route announced, but in the meantime the circulating rumours gain more validity due to it's proximity with the decisive date. The finale was set to be in Trieste, but plans have changed...
As reported by local news outlet Trieste Prima, the northeastern Italian city will no longer host the finale of the 2023 race. According to the report, the final stage had been designed but a last-minute change will see the riders head into Rome for the final day of racing.
The decision is not being taken with high regards around social media, with many criticizing the race's carbon print with an almost 1000-kilometer transfer on the final day into a different finale location then the one that had initially been planned.
The full route will be announced on the 17th of October. A lot of the route has been rumoured, however the officializations are yet to take place. The race will start in the Abruzzo region with an individual time-trial for Fossacesia Marina to Ortona.
