With his face still completely destroyed by the hard fall suffered in the penultimate stage, a proud
Carlos Rodriguez spoke with RTVE colleagues on the Champs Elysees after finishing fifth and winning a stage in his first
Tour de France. He was asked about the note that was given, which was logically positive:
"I give myself good marks, there is always room for improvement, I am very happy, it has been an incredible experience that I hope to repeat soon." On the crash, he said it was hard, but the important thing is that he was able to finish the Grande Boucle: "I'm fine, as far as I can tell, it was a big crash, I took a sharp blow, but I was able to finish the stage and the Tour."
What he makes clear above all is that he hopes to return to the Tour de France as soon as possible. The RTVE commentator took it for granted that he would not ride the Vuelta a España, but he said nothing about it:
"I don't know if next year or when, I'm looking forward to coming back, I really enjoyed it, I'm very happy, I'm looking forward to coming back. I am very grateful to all the Spanish fans and I hope I can give them more joy this summer".
