Benjamin Thomas has extended his expiring contract with Cofidis for two seasons. The 27-year-old Frenchman, who competes on both track and road, is currently in his second year with the traditional French team. Before that, Thomas raced for another top French team - Groupama-FDJ - for four years.
Thomas was very successful in his first year for Cofidis in 2022, with overal victories in the Etoile de Bessèges and the Boucles de la Mayenne. This year the individual results are somewhat lacking, although Thomas did win the time trial in the 4 Jours de Dunkerque in 2023.
So Thomas already showed great things on the road, but on the track he is really a world champion. The Frenchman has already become world champion four times (twice in the omnium, madison and the points race), six times European champion and won several World Cup races. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo he also won a bronze medal in the madison, together with Donovan Grondin.
